Indian Premier League 11 - My best five moments

The Vivo Indian Premier League(IPL) 11 has culminated with a lot of memories. A lot of close and thrilling encounters. As an icing on the cake, my home team Chennai Super Kings(CSK) clinched the IPL title for the third time. As I do a recap, I would like to pen down my best five moments in this season.

Moment #5: Unaccustomed tactics by the team captains
This season has seen a change in the way Captains lead their team. Unlike the previous editions, new tactics executed effectively by the Captains have turned into game changers. For instance, in the Qualifier II game between Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR), Kane Williamson, the captain for SRH kept a forward short leg in order to get KKR batsman Andre Russell back to the pavilion. This move by Williamson instilled a seed of doubt into Russell's mind as he tried to run down the ball from the "mystery spinner"Rashid Khan through the slip cordon, only to watch it go straight to Shikhar Dhawan at the first slip. This led the KKR side to collapse and SRH cruised to a triumphant victory.

Moment #4: CSK returning to the IPL
As a Chennaite, CSK team is my life and soul. Apparently, I was aggrieved when the men in yellow were suspended for two years back in 2015. As like every other CSK fan, when the team played the inaugural match of the IPL in this edition, I was cheering vociferously, staying up late in the night even though I had my school the next day. When CSK won the title, I was overjoyed. After all, we are the Kings !!. 9 play-offs, 7 finals and 3 title winners, what more a fan can ask!😉😃

Moment #3: Enhanced fielding
In this edition, it has been an overall good fielding performance from the players. From stunning catches near the boundary line by Trent Boult , "Superman" A.B DeVilliers to brilliant run outs by Rashid Khan, Suresh Raina to name a few. They have all been match winning pieces of fielding.

Moment #2: High quality bowling
Compared to the last edition, there had been lot of stellar performances by bowlers. Exploiting the conditions, the bowlers have given a hard time to the batsmen. Finishing on the top two spots of the most wickets taken were Andrew Tye (24 wickets) and Rashid Khan (21 wickets).

Moment #1: Shane Watson's sublime form
A senior player who took CSK to win the championship was Shane Watson. His batting performances including two scintillating hundreds(one in the finals) and two fifties, has been amazing to watch. At the start of the season. his selection was doubted by everyone. Having said that, he proved it wrong to everyone, showed that he has still a lot of cricket left in him and age is just a number.

Overall, this edition of IPL has been fantabulous. I am eagerly looking forward to the next season.
