Goal, Butterfingers !

Image
In this blog, I will be writing on one of my favourite books ever : Goal, Butterfingers! This book was published in 2010. Written superbly by Khyrunnisa A, the book is centered around thirteen year old Amar Kishen, who studies in Green Park Higher Secondary School. Amar is a very clumsy person, who tends to mostly drop whatever he holds, hence leading his friends to call him as butterfingers. In the wake of the 2010 FIFA World cup, Amar and his friends have a brilliant plan - a school "World Cup" tournament, where each class plays as a different country. But while being executed, they run into many obstacles, including a semi finals match ban for skipping school and taking part in a protest rally against pesticide factories. After having to send a weak team to play the semifinals, they fear for the worst, when they get the news that the team had won the semi-finals!! Just before the finals, the team's goalkeeper got his hand injured. As there was no reserve goal...

Avengers: Endgame

Image
Two days back, I watched the most ultimate Marvel movie ever,  Avengers : Endgame , the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War . I was blown away after watching the movie as I had never watched any movie like Avengers: Endgame before. Just five days into it's release the movie has become the 10th highest grossing movie in the world crossing $ 1, 342,689,446 already !! Directed superbly by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo , the main story arc concerns Thanos (Josh Brolin), who after destroying half of the universe, goes to retire in his planet. Meanwhile, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) are adrift in space and in critical health conditions when Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) saves them and brings them to Earth. They reunite with the rest of the Avengers, when they find out that Thanos has destroyed all the Infinity Stones, giving them no way to bring half of the population back. Five years later, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) who is a superhero named Antman, meets w...

Life of Pi - One Boy, One Boat, One Tiger

Image
In this blog, I w i ll be writing on one of the most interesting books ever, " Life of Pi ". Published in 2001, this book, written by Yann Martel,  is the recipient for the Man Booker Prize. The story is about a boy named Piscine Molitor"Pi" Patel , who survives on a lifeboat for 227 days on the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal Tiger named Richard Parker  for company. This has also been made into a film of the same name by director Ang Lee staring Irrfan Khan and Suraj Sharma in the lead roles. It is a very nice film and I am sure all of you would have watched it!! Life of Pi captures the need for practicality and religion as it's main themes. It also tells us to care for animals and not to misunderstand them. As religion is a main part of the book, it tells us to respect all religions and faiths as well. Few reasons why I like this book are: 1. It is very gripping - The story is very interesting and fun to read. There were parts where I didn't know ...

The fantastic trio solve another mystery!

In th i s post, I will be blogging on my all time favourite comic series - "The Adventures of Tintin". Written and created by Belgian author, Herge , this comic series was one of the most popular ones during the 20th century. The main story arc concerns the adventures of a young reporter named Tintin and his dog Snowy. He is accompanied by two of his friends, Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus. There are twenty four books in this series. All through the books, they end up solving mysteries in the countries which they are in instead of holidaying there.😅 Few reasons I am head over heels in love with this book series is because of the action and suspense in the stories. The way Tintin escapes from the trickiest of situations is simply a treat to read. It always blows me away!! The books are loaded with jokes and witty puns and it always make me shriek with laughter!! My favourite book in the series is "The Calculus Affair". I love this book due to its s...

One for all! All for one! - The Three musketeers

Image
In this post, I will be blogging on a book which has one of the most gripping plots ever, " The Three Musketeers ". Written by Alexandre Dumas, the main story arc concerns a young man named d' Artagnan who arrives at Paris, to join the King's musketeers(highly ranked soldiers). In Paris, he meets the three musketeers, Athos , Porthos and Aramis and they become friends. Together they go on missions to save France from enemies and protect themselves from wily spies as well. The musketeer's phrase 'One for all, All for one' is eternal . An other famous story written by Dumas is "The Count Of Monte Cristo", which is a personal favourite of mine.😎 The Three Musketeers captures medieval France and England in the 1700's. I could understand the political situation in those times; how small arguments can transform into fights between countries! We can also see how weak monarchs are taken over by lower officials. In this book, the prime...
