Avengers: Endgame
Two days back, I watched the most ultimate Marvel movie ever, Avengers: Endgame, the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War. I was blown away after watching the movie as I had never watched any movie like Avengers: Endgame before. Just five days into it's release the movie has become the 10th highest grossing movie in the world crossing $ 1, 342,689,446 already !!
Directed superbly by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, the main story arc concerns Thanos(Josh Brolin), who after destroying half of the universe, goes to retire in his planet. Meanwhile, Iron Man(Robert Downey Jr) and Nebula(Karen Gillan) are adrift in space and in critical health conditions when Captain Marvel(Brie Larson) saves them and brings them to Earth. They reunite with the rest of the Avengers, when they find out that Thanos has destroyed all the Infinity Stones, giving them no way to bring half of the population back. Five years later, Scott Lang(Paul Rudd) who is a superhero named Antman, meets with Captain America(Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanoff(Scarlett Johansson) and proposes time traveling through the quantum realm as a possibility to recover all the stones in the past before Thanos does in the future. They form teams and collect the Infinity Stones from the past but Thanos of the past comes to know about their plan. Just as Hulk(Mark Ruffalo) snaps his fingers and half the universe comes back, they are invaded by a massive siege by Thanos and his army. Just as things started getting hopeless they were joined by the Avengers who had died previously as well as various other armies. An epic battle ends with Iron Man snapping his fingers, causing Thanos and his army to disintegrate. Iron Man dies and Captain America returns to the past to live a normal life.
Avengers: Endgame was the apt movie to conclude the journey of the Avengers. Fortunately, the movie could cover a lot of subplots in detail as the running time of the movie was three hours two minutes!! Here are a few reasons as why it is the best movie I have ever watched :
1. The Iron Man - Captain America Friendship :
In all the previous Marvel movies since The Avengers, there has been a lot of disagreement between Captain America and Iron Man. I, being a die-hard Captain America fan, had started disliking Iron Man because of that. But in this movie, they become friends. It was heartwarming to see them get together and as a result, I was sad when Iron Man died.(Believe it or not!!)
2. Revisiting many previous Marvel movies :
As I am a huge Marvel fan(having watched 19 out of 22 Marvel movies), revisiting many previous Marvel movies that I have already watched was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. It gave me a sense of nostalgia, especially when they visit the army base where Captain America had trained. An interesting feature was when the movie portrayed scenes which were not part of those movies. This left me stupefied and pleased!!
My favourite character is undoubtedly Captain America. I like his straightforwardness and his knowledge on what is right and wrong. I love his powers as well as his cool vibranium shield. The biggest surprise for me was when Captain America could lift the Mjolnir, Thor's hammer, which previously could only be lifted by Thor. Chris Evans has acted delectably ever since 2010 by playing the role perfectly. Though this will be Captain America's last movie, he is one superhero who I will always like.
The movie has some amazing action as well as superb graphics. The Russo Brothers have made sure that all aspects of the movie are perfect. The actors have shown their class with their performances as well. The movie included some amazing dialogues. My favourite was the one which Iron Man said, "I... am... the Iron Man!!" Reminding me of his dialogue in "Iron Man"(2008).
Avengers: Endgame is a movie which does not need any recommendation. If you want to make your three hours worthwhile; then book your tickets for Avengers: Endgame now 😃
