My journey to the temple town of Guruvayur - Part 3
In this post, I will be blogging on my visit to the famous and powerful Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple.
The Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, also referred to as the Bhuloka Vaikunta (Vishnu's abode on Earth), is dedicated to God, Guruvayurappan. Guruvayurappan is Vishnu, worshiped in his form Krishna. The idol is in a standing posture and is four - armed, carrying the conch Panchajanya, the discus Sudarshana Chakra, the mace Kaumodaki and a lotus with a holy basil garland. The idol represents the majestic form of Vishnu as revealed to Krishna's parents, Vasudeva and Devaki. The idol is made of Black Bismuth.
We advanced to the temple through the east gate. Dozens of shops were lined across, selling various items centered on Guruvayurappan. I believe that the Guruvayur Devaswom Board should plan for a better crowd management. Devotees are moved to the sanctum in batches, which is taking lot of time. Once a batch has proceeded towards the sanctum, the officials close the doors for an unusually long time due to smaller space in the inner area that could accommodate the devotees. The next batch after a long wait is sent in after the inner crowd is moved out to a certain extent. Nevertheless, the huge fans to cool down the simmering heat, water distributed at regular intervals were a blessing for all.
We waited in the queue for almost three and a half hours. Eventually, we could enter the main sanctum. Inside the sanctum, the queues were narrowed down and moved fast. Hurray! I could behold Guruvayurappan😌😖. The joy in me was indescribable. The Lord was smeared with sandalwood paste and had a slight smile on his lips. 😉. Once I had left the sanctum, I dwelled my mind on the mental picture of Guruvayurappan and promised myself, to never let that picture absolve.
The town of Guruvayur and the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple are places where you must visit. Make sure you visit them for a mind-blowing spiritual experience.😃😄
