My divine visit to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple

As I had visited Kerala a month back, I am going to blog about the richest temple in the world, the "Padmanabhaswamy Temple". For more details on my Kerala trip, please check the following link https://rithview.blogspot.com/2018/05/my-journey-to-kerala.html.

The Padmanabhaswamy temple situated in Thiruvananthapuram is one of the most visited temples in the world. The principal diety is Padmanabha, a manifestation of Vishnu. The idol is in a reclining posture on the serpent Adishesha. The temple possesses six underground vaults each filled with riches. It is estimated that the value of all assets calculate up to Rupees 1.2 trillion!! Other shrines in this holy temple include for gods such as: Narasimha, Krishna, Rama, Vishwaksena, Ganapathi, Vyasa and Shasta.

I had visited the temple along with my mother around 4 P.M to avoid the crowd. As we were hurrying for a glimpse of Padmanabha, I was "Argus Eyed" as I wanted to soak in every detail of this magnificent temple. The temple has numerous open spaces which are filled with sand. I was in love with this intricate fusion of Dravidian architecture with mandapams(pillared halls) and carvings on the walls.

We had chosen the right time as we could get into the main sanctom in about half an hour.
As we were reaching close to Padmanabha, my heart started to beat very fast. When I was able to see Padmanabha, there was only one thing running in my mind, Oh My God !!  As the idol is 18 feet long, I immediately felt attracted and amazed. The idol's hand rests on a Shivalinga and has a lotus emerging from his navel with Brahma sitting on it. His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi stand by his side. The sanctum sanctorum is divided into three doors.

As I came out, I felt the image of Padmanabha was calling me back in. As a result we went in once again and had a divine experience.

Overall it was an divine visit and I strongly recommend you to visit the temple as it will be amazing.😃
