Bonding with nature - ecoLogin Part 2

In this post, I will be blogging on "day 2" and "day 3" of the ecoLogin trip. In day 2, we visited the "elephant camp".

The elephant camp, which is run by a family, has 3 elephants which were rescued after being subjected to cruelty by their previous owners. We had the oppurtunity to touch the elephants and feed them chunks of papaya. After this, we took part in a treasure hunt inside a forest in the camp. Each of us were given a sheet of paper with questions asked in riddles. We had to find the answers and locate them in the forest. This enhanced my sense of direction and my observation skill. As a cue, when the treasure hunt was over, it started to rain heavily! Thankfully the trees sheltered us from the rain as we ran back into the house in which the family lived. While waiting for the rain to subdue, we drew images of animals and birds using stencils.

When we could finally go outside, we saw that the whole forest was flooded!! Slowly, holding a huge sheet above our heads, we trudged through the forest. The water was knee high and once I tripped in the mud. After half an hour, we finally reached the bus. It was an unforgettable experience and to this date, I recount it many times.😊

Later that day, we visited a milk packaging factory. Over there, I learnt the different process and steps for filtering and packing milk. On tasting the milk, I found that it was the tastiest milk I had ever drunk. It was an experience full of learning.

On Day 3, we visited the famous Vedanthangal Bird sanctuary. We could see many different birds including birds that have migrated to the area. I was awed and stood gaping as I could see birds soaring in the sky. We could see snakes in the water as well. Our guide held a snake in his hand and showed it to us. It was creepy as well as interesting.

After this, we visited a farm run by major Arjun(retd). There were so many different types of crops in the farm. We played cricket there as well. This was followed by an amazing lunch made out of vegetables grown in the farm.

After this amazing visit, we boarded the bus and went back to Chennai.

Overall, I loved the ecoLogin trip and if you get a chance, I strongly recommend that you should go for it.😃
