My trip to the land of the rising sun ☼ - Part 1
In one in a series of five, I am going to be blogging on my trip to Japan last summer. I was visiting Japan after nine years as I was born there and stayed there for two years. I was yearning to go there for a long time and was exhilarated when the time came to board the flight.
I along with my mother boarded the Cathay Pacific flight at 1:30 AM from Chennai. The aeroplane was huge and had numerous aisles and seats. As I was inquisitively checking the T.V screen in front of me, I saw there were a number of movies. I spotted the movie Dr. Strange, which was on my watch list. When the movie ended, it was three in the morning and I hurriedly went to sleep. Though the food was not that great, I had an enjoyable flight journey as we landed in Hong Kong. The transit time was just one hour as we hurried from one end of the vast, but breathtaking Hong Kong International airport, to make it just on time. From there, we took the flight to Tokyo and reached there at 4:30 P.M JST.
As I stepped foot on Japanese soil, I had only one thought in my mind, Wooah!!!. I was looking at a completely different environment. As it was spring time in Japan, the famed sakura(cherry blossoms) were bursting to bloom every where💮💮. We were joined by my father who had come to the airport to recieve us.
As we travelled by bus to reach our house from the airport, I saw many landmark places in Tokyo including Disney Land which is going to feature in an upcoming blog. We finally reached our apartment in Higashi Ojima.
By wandering around the locality, I came up with these observations :
1. The surroundings are very clean - No garbage is strewn on the roads; even the pedestrian walks are pristine.
2. Lot of trees and nice parks - There are a lot of beautiful trees and huge multipurpose parks and gardens including a jogging track.
3. As a typical South Indian, I love my food to be very spicy and full of masala. But in Japan, I find the food bland and flavouring is done through sauces. My favourite dish in the Japanese cuisine is Udon, a type of noodles which is thick.
4. I was amazed by the metro train. The train moved very smoothly and it was very clean.
We have many friends from India in Japan. As a result, we often met at parties🎉. I played two matches for the cricket team over there as well. It was awesome.
In overall, I had a very enjoyable experience. Please check out my future blogs.😃
