The three great statesmen!!!
In this post, I will be blogging on my three favourite leaders in this world. I will be stating my reasons on why I liked them as well.
1. Mahatma Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi was one of the leading freedom fighters who got India independence from the British. I admire him because of his views on taking the ahimsa (non-violence) path. He insisted on having peaceful marches and strikes instead of using bombs and guns. Thus, with the whole nation inspired by him and fighting for India's independence, India became independent on 15th August 1947.
2. Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln served as the President of the United States of America from 1860 to 1865.
During his Presidential years, he fought for the abolishment of slavery. This lasted in a four year Civil War against the forces of the Republic, who supported slavery. At the end of the war, Lincoln's forces triumphed over the Republic and slavery was abolished. Another reason why I look upto him is because while forming the cabinet, he chose many of his rivals for the posts in it. He did this not by thinking on the lines that they were his rivals, instead on the lines that they were the most eligible for that post.
3. Nelson Mandela
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was an anti-apartheid revolutionary who also served as the President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. I am amazed by the fact that though he spent twenty-seven years in jail, he came back strong and went onto win the Presidential elections. His goal was to tackle racism and overthrow the apartheid government, which takes lot of determination and grit which he had.
I would strongly recommend you to read the biographies of these great leaders. I am sure you will be inspired and enthralled.
