My trip to the land of the rising sun ☼ - Part 4

In my fourth post on my trip to Japan, I am going to be blogging on my visit to the city of Osaka, the Universal Studios Japan, the city of Nara and the Todai-Ji shrine.

I was super excited on hearing that we were going to visit the second largest metropolitan area in Japan, Osaka. But the fact that got me onto my feet was that we were going to travel in the world renowned Shinkansen; more commonly known as the Bullet train!!

As the Shinkansen is part of the Japanese Railways, we had to travel to the Tokyo Station in order to board it. When I reached the Tokyo Station, I was blown away!!! I have been to most of the metro stations in Tokyo and this one is a level apart. Here are the reasons :

1. It is humongous! - Even now under extensive development, it's boundaries almost touch two districts in Tokyo! With a huge space both underground and above, it is the busiest station in Japan.

 2. It is very commercial - The station has mini malls and departmental stores which sell about almost everything under the sun!

We finally reached the Shinkansen. They are kept on the eastern side of the Tokyo Station. We were travelling on the Nozomi, one of the fastest Shinkansens. When the Nozomi started moving, everything outside the window was a blur. Though it was travelling at 300 km/h!, it was really smooth on the bends and there were no jerks. After three and a half hours, we reached Osaka!!

Osaka was very different from Tokyo. The streets are not crowded unlike Tokyo; it was very peaceful. Even the skyscrapers are lesser in number in Osaka.

The next morning we headed to Universal Studios Japan(USJ)! USJ is ranked fourth in the world in the amusement/theme parks with the highest annual attendence! The park has an area of 108 acres and is divided into ten lands, each with it's own rides.
My two favourite rides are:

1. Harry Potter And The Forbidden Journey -
We entered a whole land based on Hogsmeade village. Every thing in the village is based on items from the world of Harry Potter. It has all the shops which exist in the book as well. I drank the frothy butterbeer made over there(It is non-alcoholic)😆 There is also a shop selling wands belonging to the main characters in the Harry Potter books. I chose Harry's wand. After that, I went to designated spots in the village where you could actually perform spells and see it work out!!! For the ride, we proceeded to the Hogwarts Castle and waited in the queue. We then went inside the castle and there the ride started.

We were locked to our seats and then we started moving. There was a huge screen in front of us showing Harry, Ron and Hermoine. Then we plummeted down. The ride takes us through the castle, escape scary creatures and even play Quidditch! A funny incident that happened when my parents and I were experiencing the ride was that, suddenly our carriage stopped moving. Ours was the only one which stopped and we were tilted in a 90 degree angle and in an upside down posture for ten minutes!!! That too, right next to the Basilisk!😌 After ten minutes, we started moving again. As a compensation of our abrupt halt, we were given a free ride again by the staff. It was an exhilarating experience.

2. The Amazing Adventures Of Spider Man -
This ride had much more action in it. We were the live-witness to Spider Man, while he was fighting some of his arch nemesis. In the end, we play a pivotal role for him to win the battle. The 3D effects was amazing; I loved it!

After this awesome experience, we headed to the city of Nara. Over there, we headed to the very famous Todai-Ji shrine. As soon as we entered the shrine premises, we were surrounded by deers. There are a lot of deer in Nara as they are considered to be sacred animals. They were really cute and I fed them some biscuits given by the temple in charges. The Todai-Ji shrine is amazing. With vast grounds and many structures, it houses the very famous and massive Great Buddha or Diabutsu(Not to get confused with the idol at Kamakura). It is one of the biggest wooden structures in Japan!

After this enlightening visit, we travelled back to Tokyo via Shinkansen.

It was a fantastic trip. Please check out my future blogs😃
