My trip to the land of the rising sun ☼ - Part 5
In my last post chronicling my trip to Japan, I am going to be blogging on my visit to Hakone.
Hakone is a town less than 100 kilometres south from Tokyo. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan. Famous for it's hot springs and natural beauty, we(my father and I) decided to spend a day over there.
We first headed to the Tokyo station and then took the Japanese Railways(JR) to Hakone. While nearing Hakone, we once again saw the magnificent Mount Fuji(To view my experience in visiting Mt.Fuji check https://rithview.blogspot.com/2018/09/my-trip-to-land-of-rising-sun-part-2.html). We then reached Hakone!
I was awestruck by its beauty as much of its flora and fauna are not disturbed. We headed to a place which had hotsprings. After having over the years about Japan's hotsprings, I was enthralled and excited to actually take a bath in one!!๐
When I stepped inside the Onsen(hot spring), there was only one thing running on my mind, "aahhh!!!" ๐๐ I was feeling very relaxed and at peace. Deciding to try out all the pools out there, I was shocked because there was an onsen which was as hot as fire and one as cold as ice!!!
After this, my father and I headed towards the Hakone Tozan Railway. The line crosses two mountains and is simply spectacular. With the lush green forests and flowers blossoming as we whizzed by, it was simply a treat for my eyes๐ท๐ธ
We then reached the mountain top where we climbed onto the Hakone Ropeway. The gondola carrying us took off and we sat viewing the scenery. An unique feature of the gondola was that even the floor that our legs were on was transparent to give a more realistic feeling! As we were about to pass above a mountain pass, the gondola started going higher and higher. I thought we were going to drop down, when we entered a different landscape(Yes! just like that). From beautiful trees and a jungle, we entered a barren land. This was the Owakudani Valley and there were Sulfur hot springs gushing out from the ground!! I was gaping as I stood watching the Sulfuric springs gushing out. My father also told me this interesting fact that people boil eggs and then eat it by letting it heat above the vapour and gas released by the springs๐
After this amazing trip, we then returned back to Tokyo. After about a week, we again boarded the Cathay Pacific flight departing from the Narita International airport and reached Chennai the day after.
It gave me great pleasure to write down my experiences in Japan and I would strongly recommend you to visit there. I am sure you would have already come to this conclusion after reading this series๐๐
