In this blog, I will be writing on my most favourite hindi music composer ever, "Rahul Dev Burman"!!

Rahul Dev Burman, also known as R.D Burman, was one of hindi film music's most popular music directors and has composed for 331 films during the 1960's to 1990's. He is also credited to have revolutionized the face of Bollywood music.

Few years back, I was first introduced to Burman's songs by my mother when she played out super duper hits from "Aradhana", "Kati Patang" and "Amar Prem" for me. And then I fell in love with his songs...

Reasons why I am head over heels in love with Burman's music direction and songs are :

1. They have amazing tunes and beats - I don't think any other composer can produce as superb tunes as R.D Burman. They are so amazing to hear and have such an awesome beat that you can just lean back onto your chair and say, 'Vah Re Vah'(Oh! Wow!).😁

2. Wide Diversity - From classical masterpieces to a pacy dance song, he has proven his worth in all genres. His selection of instruments and how he uses them for each type mind-blowingly enhances the song.

3. Ingeniousness at it's best - It is said that to bring different sounds, Burman used to turn day to day objects into a new instrument. To bring beats, he used to blow into bottles and rub his comb against rough surfaces. And to bring the effect of thunder, he used to rub sandpaper together!!😂

4. The Rahul - Rajesh - Kishore trio - Consisting of Burman, actor Rajesh Khanna and singer Kishore Kumar, (to know about Rajesh Khanna and Kishore Kumar, go to https://rithview.blogspot.com/2018/05/my-journey-of-becoming-ardent-rajesh.html) they have collaborated together for thirty movies all containing evergreen songs. The song which R.D Burman magnificently composed, is sung majestically by Kishore Kumar which in turn is acted marvellously by Rajesh Khanna.

Some of my favourite R.D Burman songs include :

1. Raina Beeti Jaye - It is a haunting melody from the movie ''Amar Prem''. The way how Lata Mangeshkar has sung the song is astounding.

2. O Mere Dil Ke Chain - It is a fast and superb song from the movie "Mere Jeevan Sathi". I would say that this song is one Kishore Kumar's best rendered ones.

3. Kuch Toh Log Kahenge - Again from"Amar Prem", it is a soulful and heartmoving song. If you want to know why Kishore Kumar is considered as one of the best singers, please listen to this song.

4. Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai - A fast paced song from the movie "Kati Patang", the way how Burman has used his instruments and interlude pieces are amazing.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend you to listen to R.D Burman's songs as I am sure you will love it and find his style of music direction amazing.
