My insightful takeaways from the 2018-2019 annual exhibition - Part 1
Yesterday was the annual exhibition for grades 1 to 12 in my school, which is HLC International. Our exhibition was named Strands Of Transformation, which was the continuation of the exhibition that took place two years back, named Shaashvatam.
Shaashvatam means sustainability and addressed two of the three main needs for a person: food and shelter. We grew crops of different varieties in our own school farm overcoming the grave challenges posed by the Vardha cyclone!! We built a farmhouse as well which covers the need for shelter.
This year, we looked at the third main need which is clothing and kept it as our main theme. Strands Of Transformation means that every strand of fibre, not matter where it is obtained from, joined together, brings a huge transformation in every one's lives. This year's exhibition topic was divided into six subtopics :
1. Paper and Felt Making
2. Braiding and Knitting
3. Dyeing
4. Printing
5. Weaving and Basketry
6. Draping and Repurposing
Prior to the annual exhibition, there were ten preparatory days and the students in each group were chosen through a concept called vertical grouping where four or five students from each class from grades 4 - 9 were put together in one group. This taught me to be more collaborative and be more open to working with students from different grades. I was chosen in the Weaving and Basketry team and I had no particular reaction as the entire concept of clothing was new to me.
The teachers who were leading the weaving and basketry team, had previously taught me years back and it was nice boarding their ship once again. As it was a sudden transit from the normal school routine to the exhibition work, the first day was boring, although I had no idea of what was coming up next for me and it literally blew me away!!😂
This was the first part of my wonderful experience of the Strands of Transformation exhibition and continue reading to find out how the rest of the ten days as well as the exhibition went awesomely for me.
Thank You and Good bye 😃
Congrats Rithvik. Awesome.
