My experience on travelling to Sano

In this post, I will be writing on my journey to Sano and about the mega event I attended over there. as well.

Sano is a city eighty four km away from Tokyo and is located in the Tochigi prefecture of Japan. My father and I decided to go to Sano to watch the State Bank of India(SBI) Cup. The SBI Cup is a cricket tournament sponsored by SBI. It is a tennis ball tournament and is played by corporate teams. This time there were thirty corporates playing in the tournament. The SBI Cup is usually a two day affair but with the skies opening on the first day, it got shortened to a day. Being cricket fanatics, my father and I didn't want to miss the chance of seeing so much cricket action live; hence, we tagged along with my father's friend and gleefully started our drive to Sano.

As the driving time from Tokyo to Sano is over an hour, we decided to take the expressway. In Tokyo, there is both an internal as well as an expressway to go to other cities. An expressway does not have any signals and is very easy to drive on as it is less time consuming and allows us to drive fast.

Half of the expressway to Sano was alongside the Arakawa river. When I came to know about this, I was overjoyed as I could spend a lot of time looking out of the window and gaping at the Arakawa river. As we were cruising on the expressway, what struck me the most that how well planned Tokyo is. Though the city has a population of over 13 million, there are spacious parks and pristine untouched rivers flowing. The roads do not have traffic as equal amount of cars go on the expressway as well as the roads. I had thought about this previously but an aerial view of the city on the flyover made me understand it better.

As we were entering the next prefecture after Tokyo, I got to see the majestic and marvellous Mount Fuji!! Soaking in the background of the flowing Arakawa river as well as Skyscrapers scraping the sky, looking at the perfectly symmetrical Mount Fuji was a real treat.

After passing through the Saitama Prefecture, we entered the Tochigi prefecture. I was amazed by the change of surroundings as Tochigi Prefecture was a bit rural and had a country side landscape; I was in a blissful state when I breathed in the air as it was so fresh and unpolluted. There was no garbage and the trees and plants were bursting with green. No wonder the residents looked so healthy and fresh!!

After fifteen to twenty kilometres, we reached Sano!! It is a mountainous region and the specialty I found about these mountains was that one mountain had at least two-three shades of green!! After we stopped at a convenience store to refresh ourselves, I stretched my limbs and took a long breath of the fresh air and felt delighted. As we almost reached the venue for the SBI cup, I saw a quaint little stream with water gushing by. After that, we reached the Sano International Cricket Ground.

The Sano International Cricket Ground is the main and biggest cricket stadium in Japan and has hosted a number of International matches. The grass has been trimmed neatly and the pitch has been kept in good condition. After the inaugural ceremony, the matches started and the teams started battling each other out for becoming the 2019 SBI Cup champions. Towards the end, the matches started getting very close and interesting with a superb final going in the way of TCS(Tata Consultancy Services) resulting in them becoming the champions of this year's SBI Cup. Though I felt that the tournament should have happened on two days instead of one, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I want to go to more such tournaments and hope to play in them as well!!

After a day filled with excitement and enjoyment, we reached home at around 9 in the night.
I loved my experience at Sano in the Tochigi Prefecture and hope to have more such awesome days as well😃

  1. Well written Kanna..
As you had written in your 50th blog, the intentions of your father to make you write blogs is definitely bearing fruit. Your language is improving every time, and your observation skills too.

The ability to make the reader to visualize your thoughts, is what is most impressive.

    Keep writing..Keep improving :)
