Shaashvatham-Part 2

In the final blog of the Shaashvatham series, I will be writing on my experience of the Shaashvatham exhibition.

As we had finished farming, gardening and brick making, we were making flurried preparations for the grand Shaashvatham exhibition. The exhibition was going to take place in a week's time. As our exhibits(plants and cement-less walls) were in the farm, we decided to hold our exhibition right next to it. This was a unique decision as the exhibitions prior to this one have all happened inside our campus.

We erected huge shamianas and the teachers agreed to have half of the students to stand in the farm and explain about the crops and the other half to present about the back story of our work in the farm and on the Shaashvatham initiative as well. Since the bricks could be transported easily, most members of the brick and wall making team were under the shamianas while few students were in the farm explaining about the walls.

I was very excited for the Shaashvatham exhibition as I love presenting and explaining anything in my knowledge. I feel that such exhibitions are perfect venues for honing my passion. I was more enlivened at the fact that not only are the parents of the students attending but also anybody who are interested in sustainable food as the exhibition was open to the public.

As a member of the brick making team, I was assigned to explain on the ingredients and the exact proportion needed to make a single brick. The teachers selected me to explain this amazing topic because of the amount of time I spent on making the bricks.

Finally!! The day of the exhibition arrived. I was on cloud 9 as I reached the school at 7:30 in the morning. We made the final touches and waited as the crowd started trickling in at around 9. Though I was a tad nervous, it vanished quickly as I received the positive response of the spectators on hearing me explain😎 In a similar fashion, the day went by in a blur and I managed to get some time to see what the other students were explaining as well!! After a superb day, I returned home.

In conclusion, the 2016-2017 Shaashvatham exhibition was as much as a tremendous learning experience as it was fun. I feel that such an exhibition comes only once in a blue moon😃
