Post Coronavirus - The New Normal - Part 1
Our world is being rampaged by the coronavirus(Covid-19) and new personal and social norms have been created in order to prevent the spread of the virus. As we are unsure whether if the virus will be eradicated or the fact that it may continue to remain on earth, we have to equip ourselves for the future in order to be able to live with it. In this blog which is the first of a duology, I will be looking at 3 normal features that we were accustomed to before the spread of the virus and how these features will be reshaped and remodeled in the future. I will also be giving my predictions on what we can expect from these changes in the future.
3 features of the 'Old Normal' and how they will be modified for the 'New Normal'.
1. Wearing A Mask In Public
Prior to the Covid-19 spread, it was not at all necessary to wear a mask in the public. Moreover, people who were sick were only encouraged to wear it. However, it is now made mandatory for everyone to wear a mask when they venture outside. This will be a bit difficult to follow especially during the summer months when the heat and humidity might make people want to remove them. This will spur mask making companies to design masks which are comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time. Hence, my prediction is that after a 3-4 years, the masks which we wear will be much different in terms of size, material and shape.
2. Carrying a Hand Sanitiser
Just like face masks, hand sanitisers were taken for granted and not many people carried them. However, using hand sanitisers is viewed now as one of the best ways to protect yourself from the virus. Nevertheless, frequent use has raised some concerns due to the fact that it is highly flammable. My prediction for the future is that the components used for making these handsanitisers will be changed and more children-friendly models will be available.
3. Increased Take Outs From Restaurants
If take outs and online ordering from restaurants did not exist, then the restaurant industry would have been hit the hardest due to the lockdown imposed. Owing to technology advancing every year, the rate of taking out from restaurants had already been increasing during the 'old normal'. Furthermore, it saw an exponential rise when people started ordering more because they couldn't visit restaurants. Even if the threat posed by the coronavirus subsides, the take out culture will still grow due to the fact that many restaurants will be cramped with diners and they will continue ordering from their houses in order to minimise any risk of catching infections. Hence, my prediction is that in 10 years, the number of take outs from restaurants will be greater than the number of people going to the resaturants.
In conclusion, we have to adapt ourself to the 'new normal' along with social distancing in order to make sure that the virus gets eradicated as soon as possible. Three examples of this includes wearing a mask in public, carrying hand sanitisers and increased number of takeouts from restaurants. If you would like further analysis into the 'new normal', then kindly read the second part of this duology. Every single citizen on this planet should join hands in order to stop this deadly biological weapon. At times like this, the saying: United We Stand, Divided We Fall can never be more true😀

True. We have to take up the New Normal and move on.
ReplyDeleteWell written as always.. People have become more aware about being hygienic now.
ReplyDeleteFor scores of people who are homeless or living in cramped unclean places or slums or those who struggle to make even one meal what are your thoughts about them?
Waiting for the 2nd part.
Awesome thinking and brilliantly written, Always a treat to read your blogs.
ReplyDeleteEvery catastrophic event has brought changes both positive and negative though most concerning for me has the ever increasing gap between the rich and poor. Would love to have a chat on it :-)
