Breaching Borders: Visiting the Digital Art Museum

Image
How would it be  if we could imagine art in a 3D manner : This  is the   motto of  teamLab Borderless , a group of dedicated artists, programmers, CG animators, mathematicians and architects, who came together to give Tokyo one of it's finest technological marvels, the  Digital Art Museum !! My parents and I decided to visit the Art Museum to experience this 3D world ourselves. Located in Aomi, which is in  Odaiba , Tokyo, we started at 10: 30 in the morning and set off for Toyosu station. At Toyosu, I was thrilled to hear that we were going to ride on the futuristic Yurikamome line. The Yurikamome line is a  driverless  train that can travel up to speeds of 60kph!! To put the icing on the cake, I was able to sit at the the front most seat and kept jumping up and down in excitement. As the train was on the midst of it's journey, I was able to glimpse many of the iconic venues of the upcoming  2020 Tokyo Olympics  including the  Olympic Village  and the  Ariake Coliseum (t

Embark on to the Japanese Culture: The Higashi Ojima Matsuri

Japan is a land of 'Matsuri'(pronunciation: Ma-tsu-rii). It means ' festival ' in Japanese. Though there are massive festivals in Japan, there are small ones in each locality as well. These matsuri signify the need for group cohesiveness. Friends and families meet up and enjoy together. Majority of these festivals occur during the summer; and one such matsuri is the  Higashi Ojima Matsuri 😄  The Higashi Ojima matsuri is celebrated every year and is a popular festival spanning two days. Though it is a small matsuri, people throng all over from the neighborhood to take part in it. The festival has lot of food and games stalls along with a huge stage for dance programs .This was my first festival in Japan and I was super excited for it. In this blog, I will be writing on my experience of the matsuri. I was elated when I learnt that a group of us Indian friends were holding a food stall in the matsuri!! The proceeds from our stall was to go for charity.  The me

Spider Man: Far from Home

Following the end of Marvel's Infinity Saga( twenty two movies) with Avengers: Endgame giving it a fitting finish, Marvel needed a movie to start it's phase four with a bang and Spider Man: Far From Home did exactly that. Directed by Jon Watts, the movie is set in 2023. The students in Peter Parker 's(Spider Man) school who disintegrated five years previously(including Spider Man), all come back and find it strange because they have missed five years. To get the students relaxed, the school organizes a trip to Europe for Peter's(Tom Holland) class. They first visit Venice, where a strange creature made of water wrecks havoc on the city. Suddenly, a masked superhero appears and starts fighting the creature. Though Peter tries to help, the masked superhero defeats the creature and flies away.  That night, as Peter enters his room, he meets Nick Fury(Samuel.L.Jackson). Fury takes him to a secret lab, where he meets Maria Hill(Cobie Smulders) and the masked superher

Shaashvatham-Part 2

In the final blog of the Shaashvatham series, I will be writing on my experience of the Shaashvatham exhibition. As we had finished farming, gardening and brick making, we were making flurried preparations for the grand Shaashvatham exhibition. The exhibition was going to take place in a week's time. As our exhibits(plants and cement-less walls) were in the farm, we decided to hold our exhibition right next to it. This was a unique decision as the exhibitions prior to this one have all happened inside our campus. We erected huge shamianas and the teachers agreed to have half of the students to stand in the farm and explain about the crops and the other half to present about the back story of our work in the farm and on the Shaashvatham initiative as well. Since the bricks could be transported easily, most members of the brick and wall making team were under the shamianas while few students were in the farm explaining about the walls. I was very excited for the Shaashvatham e

Shaashvatham- Part 1

In my previous blog on Militvaa , I had written on my sandwich business and helping a social cause. Well, in this blog, I will be writing on the initiative( Shaashvatham ) from where I got the idea to make healthy and fresh vegetarian sandwiches. What is Shaashvatham? Shaashvatham means sustainability in Sanskrit. In the 2016-17 academic year, it was HLC's theme for the annual exhibition. It addresses the topic of sustainable and healthy food, which is one of the three basic necessities of a man. We wanted to take a different approach to producing the food as we were firm that our fruits and vegetables has to be fresh, sustainable, pesticide free, and good for the environment unlike the ones we get in the market. We decided to extend this idea to the public and hence, hosted an exhibition; where anybody could come and see our work in creating sustainable and environmental friendly food. To kick-start on our project, HLC bought a farm for growing our plants!! The layout of th

Indian Premier League 12 - My top five moments

Image
The recently concluded Vivo Indian Premier League(IPL) was nothing short of excitement and enjoyment. Most of the matches went down the wire with Mumbai Indians beating Chennai Super Kings in a heart breaking final and winning by one run😭!! Nevertheless, as I remincise about the IPL 2019, I would like to blog on my top five moments of the Vivo Indian Premier League 12. Moment #5  Direct  run outs  becoming game changers This was a major factor in many games; while the chasing team looked on course to easily chase the required runs and start running an easy single, the fielder aims for a direct throw at the stumps and knocks it off before the batsman has completed the run. This leads to a collapse in the batting team and hey! Before you know it, the fielding team have won the match. This proves that all teams have worked very hard on their fielding. Moment #4 Super-human catches As I emphasized on the fielding of the teams in moment no. 5, there were a plethora of
