My divine visit to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple

Image
As I had visited Kerala a month back,  I am going to blog about the richest temple in the world, the " Padmanabhaswamy Temple ".  For more details on my Kerala trip, please check the following link  https://rithview.blogspot.com/2018/05/my-journey-to-kerala.html . The Padmanabhaswamy temple situated in Thiruvananthapuram is one of the most visited temples in the world. The principal diety is Padmanabha, a manifestation of Vishnu. The idol is in a reclining posture on the serpent Adishesha. The temple possesses six underground vaults each filled with riches. It is estimated that the value of all assets calculate up to Rupees 1.2 trillion!!  Other shrines in this holy temple include for gods such as: Narasimha, Krishna, Rama, Vishwaksena, Ganapathi, Vyasa and Shasta. I  had visited the temple  along with my mother  around 4 P.M to avoid the crowd. As we were hurrying for a glimpse of P admanabha, I was " Argus Eyed " as I wanted to soak in every detail of

Incredibles 2

Image
A day ago, I had watched the much anticipated and hyped movie, the " Incredibles 2 ". Produced by Pixar Animations Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures, this movie is a sequel for the "Incredibles" which had released in 2004. Directed by Brad Bird , the main story arc concerns the Parr family - Bob, Helen and their children, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack who operate on missions under their superhero identity, the Incredibles . As superheroes are illegal, they are dejected as they can not use their super powers. All of a sudden, Helen gets an assignment from DEVTECH, a multi billion dollar company, whose CEO wants to make superheroes legal again. As Helen goes on to stop the villain, the Screenslaver, she realises that there is an mastermind who is controlling the Screen slaver. What comes on next forms the rest of the story. As I had watched the first movie on Television, I had great expectations for the sequel as the first was mind blowing . I was not

My journey to Goa

Image
In this post, I will be blogging on my trip to the smallest state in India, " Goa " two years back. I had visited  Goa  along with my parents and grandmother. As the flight took off from the Kamaraj domestic terminal Chennai, I watched with a grip of alarm and wonderment as the plane curved from the sea back to land. After an hour and a half's time of travelling with puffy clouds, we finally reached  Goa ! Woohoo!😃 I was   exhilarated   as I placed my first step on the   "Jewel of the West Coast" , which is my nickname for Goa .  We were driven to our resort, " Ramada Caravela"  by the taxi owned by the resort. On reching the resort I was awestrucken! With a large pool in the centre and coconut trees everywhere, the 5 star resort was a treat to my eyes. The rooms were private suites and were built in a cottage style. As it was christmas time, the resort was lighted up in a breathtaking way. The resort owns a stretch of the Varca Beach. It was

The King of Basketball - LeBron James

Image
As the NBA 2017-18 season has recently ended with my team, the Golden State Warriors lifting the trophy, I have decided to write again on the subject. In this post, I will be writing on one of my favourite basketballers, " LeBron James " . Often considered the best active basketballer, LeBron James fondly called as "The King James" , has many accolades to his name. Few salient ones include three NBA championships, four Most Valuable Player Awards in NBA and two Olympic Gold medals. James is 7th on the career points table in NBA history with 31,038 points! He plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers as the small forward though capable of filling in for all positions. Since I was not following NBA during the last season (2016-17), I decided to follow this season diligently and analyse in depth. In turn, I could understand and feel the class of this legend. There were numerous occasions in which he fought a lone battle and pulled matches from the jaws of defeat.Thi

Govinda! Govinda! - Trip to Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala

Image
In this post, I will be blogging on my visit to the   Venkateswara Temple . The main idol of the   temple is Venkateswara, an avatar of Vishnu.  The temple is situated in the hill town of Tirumala at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. As the temple is 170 kilometres away from my home, we(my father and I) started around 6AM  by road. While driving on the way to Tirupati, we crossed beautiful and historic towns such as Thiruninravur. As I understand Tamil, I understood that there was a legend behind the town through it's name. When I researched on it, I found out that goddess Lakshmi once stood in this town admiring the town's beauty. We soon crossed a town named Thiruthani in the border of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The town is famous for its Arulmigu Subramanya Swami Temple, one of the six holy abodes of Lord Muruga.  38 kilometres from Tirupati lays the Srikalahasteeswara temple,  one of the five main temples of Shiva. It is one of the Pancha bhootha sthalam and is the only

The Beaches in Chennai

Image
Today, I will be blogging on the picturesque and precarious beaches in Chennai.😃 The eastern coastline in India are caressed by the waters of the Bay of Bengal.  With a length of 13 km along with a promenade of 6 km, the " Marina beach " in Chennai is the longest beach in Asia. Personally, the Marina Beach is one of my favourite beaches because of the deep blue sea and the silky sands that it possesses.   My favourite beach in Chennai is the " Elliot's Beach " also known as the " Besant Nagar Beach" .  I like the beach because it is very tranquil and lesser polluted. The waves are comparatively gentle as well. Another beach in Chennai is " Kovalam beach (Covelong) " down south of the Marina beach. I am fortunate to be able to view this beach through the window in my room. The unique feature of this beach with its curved shape, balanced flow of waves make it one of the best surfing spots in India. Every year, surfers from all

Comics - A visual treat !

Image
In this post, I will be blogging on my reading experience through comics. Reading is my passion; it started from reading comics such as the Amar Chitra Katha and Tintin. Having a Tintin comic in my hands, I would read the book, gaping at the wonderful illustrations and wishing that I too would have similar adventures. While reading comics, I always feel light - hearted and joyful.  Comics helped build my imagination and curiosity. Though a comic can not be elaborated like a novel, the visual images make it just as interesting and gripping.  Many movies across languages have their base story lines taken from comics.  Comics have successfully been turned to animations in the television such as : Shin Chan , Doraemon and Pokemon to name a few. Further, they have inspired people to make objects which appear in comics into real life such as robots. My preferences are comics such as: Tintin by Herge, Feluda by Satyajit Ray, Tinkle and Amar Chitra Katha by  An

Doctor Strange - The impossibilities are endless!

Image
In this post, I will be blogging on my favourite marvel movie, " Doctor Strange ". Directed by Scott Derrickson, the main story arc concerns the life of Stephen Vincent Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), an acclaimed neurosurgeon who injures his hands severely in a car crash. Searching for a cure, he comes across Kamar-Taj , a hidden school high up in the Himalayas. Strange is taken into the Kamar-Taj by the head sorcerer and teacher, the " Ancient One ". Under the tutelage of the Ancient One, Strange learns the mystic arts and gets psychic powers. Over the course of time, he heals his hands and succeeds the Ancient One as the head sorcerer and as the master of the mystic arts. The reason why I love this movie is the way how Derrickson has added and used the special effects tool so well. The setting is jaw dropping with the Himalayas as the backdrop. Another salient feature is that the main characters in this film possess cool powers. With the help of their p

Faster Than Lightning - Usain Bolt

Image
In this post, I will be blogging on the autobiography of the fastest man on the planet . An international bestseller, " Faster than lightning " , written by Usain Bolt along with Matt Allen, focuses on Bolt's track and field career. From agonizing back injuries to competitive rivals, Bolt's incredible journey has got them all. The way how he has handled them and pushed forward is truly inspiring. The book is  written in an informal way with colloquial words. Bolt expresses his thoughts and feelings in the book. His mentality is such that:  You mock me by words,  I mock you through my races !😎 I like the book because of the flow created by Bolt. The way he has described his struggles and his comebacks are amazing. He has mentioned the vital support given to him by his family, friends and coach Glen Mills   as well. This book is very inspirational. I would strongly recommend this book for you as I believe that this is a must read.😃 I would like to end
